Since 2012, PAL Ottawa has proudly served senior artists and arts workers living and working in the National Capital Region. Their programs provide, free of charge, support services that allow elder artists to fulfil small-but-important needs, without worry. In 2021, PAL Ottawa signed an MOU with Ottawa Community Housing to partner on an affordable housing project.
The Rochester Heights Development project begins during the Spring (2023) with plans to open in 2025. The PAL Place building will offer 86 apartments (studio to 3-bedroom) and space that allows aging artists continued creation and presentation opportunities in a safe and comfortable environment. A few notable attributes of the property include: a rooftop terrace, full accessibility, an enclosed park, passive and net zero design standards, and Creative Spaces.
The affordable housing project is located at Rochester, Gladstone and Booth streets, surrounded by the already rich and creative Corso Italia District, and near the future Corso Italia Station of Ottawa’s LRT system.
