Spotlight: Lynn Miles Headlining the Ottawa Grassroots Festival 2025

Home 9 2025 Performer 9 Spotlight: Lynn Miles Headlining the Ottawa Grassroots Festival 2025

Lynn Miles is an old friend of our little festival and we are thrilled that she is headlining for us again this year. We just can’t get enough of this Ottawa favourite. It was great to catch up with her and I discovered something that I didn’t know about Lynn. She goes to bed at 4 am and has done so all of her life. At 8 pm she was making a big pot of vegetable soup and doing laundry. Life of a musician. She says she has always had a hard time getting up early in the morning. I can relate, Lynn!

Lynn is a natural comedian who has a magical stage presence that makes you want to pull up a chair and never leave. Not only are her music and lyrics good for the soul but her humour is present in everything that she does and we all could use a little more of that couldn’t we?

She starts at 9 pm on Friday April 25 at The First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa at 30 Cleary St. in our beautiful capital city. It is a stunning venue and we are pleased to be back for our second year. Lynn has been busy this past year with a lot of performances and one outside of her genre, Jazz In The Valley that she played on February 8th, 2025. She had never played at a Jazz festival and was unsure how she would be received. It’s interesting that someone as accomplished as Lynn Miles, still has moments of doubt. She said that it went really well and she felt that people really liked her. What’s not to like, Lynn? Lynn produced a couple of records in 2024, while teaching songwriting and voice at various camps. She is a great teacher and producer so reach out to her at www.lynnmiles.ca.

This year Lynn is bringing Keith Glass with her (you can catch them at The School House on April 13, 2025) and her long time singing partner, Rebecca Campbell who has been harmonizing with Lynn for 44 years! She was on Lynn’s first album and was part of The Black Donnellys with Lucky Ron. The three of them will be harmonizing together on Friday, April 25, 2025. Tickets are on sale now at www.ottawagrassrootsfestival.com. See you there!
