Gratitude and Thanks

There are three groups of people involved in this festival that deserve a great big “Thank-you”! The first are our extremely generous sponsors. They ensure we have free daytime programming, which makes this festival affordable for young families to attend and sharing with the community is what we are all about. Without sponsor support, this would be an entirely different festival and it’s safe to say, the OGF would not be possible! Secondly, we want to thank all the artists that are participating in the festival. It is so wonderful that you want to perform at our event and it is very humbling. Thirdly, it is you, the volunteers, that pull together and make this happen by so generously giving of your time and energy. We are so grateful you have chosen to support this festival. Did you know that Grassroots is run entirely by volunteers?

Festival Launch

The official festival launch will take place at Pressed Café on Wednesday, March 5th 2014 at Noon. We invite volunteers, sponsors and the press to join us in celebrating this event which will include the premier of the official Ottawa Grassroots Festival song written and performed by Maxim Cossette. Please mark this in your calendar and join us!

Concert featuring Laura Smith – Fundraiser

While you are adding the festival launch details to your calendar, here is another event you will not want to miss. The incredibly talented, Laura Smith, will be performing on Saturday, March 8 2014 at the NAC Fourth Stage. Please visit the festival website for details about time and where to get your tickets. This show will sell out so be sure to get your tickets soon. Many thanks to Chris White for organizing this fundraising event for our festival! Please help spread the news to family and friends and we will look forward to seeing you all there.

Accessibility and OGF

Our volunteers and patrons have indicated that accessibility at OGF is extremely important. We are excited to offer our volunteers Accessibility Standards Customer Service Training online available through the Ontario Government website. The training is free and takes approx. 45 minutes to complete, if you tackle all the modules in one sitting. You can decide to complete only one module at a time, if that suits you better. Please note that there is no certificate, following the completion of this online training. What you will gain is a better understanding of how to best serve people with various types of disabilities and your participation in this training will help the OGF organization meet its requirement to be Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliant. The training is easy and we encourage all of our volunteers to participate. It’s a good thing! Just follow the link above, when you are ready to get started. We thank you for your support.

Volunteer Registration

Our website has been updated with a new section devoted entirely to volunteers. There you will find out how to sign-up as a volunteer. You will then be contacted by one of the volunteer co-ordinators to confirm your registration details. If you have any questions relating to volunteering, please contact Brenda, Trish or Martha at [email protected].
