Ottawa-based “Local Colour” performs original songs and interpretations with catchy rhythms and harmonies, and singalongable lyrics. They share their lives, loves and activism in a diverse repertoire of Canadiana styles that include original and traditional folk, country gospel, rousing Atlantic tales and soulful personal love songs.
Since 2016, Local Colour has been performing locally at venues like the Ottawa Grassroots Festival, Tunes After Noon, the Intergenerational Climate Picnic and Pressed. They have taken part in the Neptunes Music workshop ‘Songs by Women for Women’ at Grassroots 2019, DJs Mid-Summer Cafe, and community events such as the Great Canadian Songalong, Gil’s Hootenanny Songwriting Workshops and Chrysalis. Individual members are also known for participating in a number of local arts and singing projects.
Local Colour is: Debbie Rubin, banjo; Juanita Sauve, percussion; Lili, ukelele; Monique Brault, guitar; and Patricia Reynolds, acoustic and electric guitars. All sing lead vocals and harmonies.
